These small design sculptures, part of my 2022 Crucible Series, are an homage to hand held, hand-made marble sculpture. They share my love for the material and the tactile nature it offers for both the artist and owner. 

Each stone is uniquely shaped with the imperfections that making something that isn’t machined has to offer. The finish is diamond rasped leaving an open crystalline structure.

The essence of light and stone are brought together by design to display the luminosity of Statuario marble quarried from Mount Altissimo, otherwise known as Michelangelo’s Mountain.

The geologic origins of this marble are a vessel for life, illuminating memory, the path ahead and a way of hope.
