6 weekly sessions: Introduction to Marble Carving ( 18 hours)
This course is designed to introduce people to the art of marble carving while providing one-on-one instruction and hands-on demos for every tool and technique along the way. Students meet once a week for 3 hours and have the flexibility to create their own schedule. In the studio people are guided through a step-by-step process and learn the direct carving method.
Use of my hand tools, pneumatic air hammers, die grinders, steel and carbide chisels, electric grinders, diamond saws, polishing materials, safety glasses and ear protection are all included in the course and at your fingertips.
This six-session course is long enough to start stone-carving and attain a fundamental understanding of the process. It also provides the opportunity for students working on complex or larger sculptures to enroll in multiple terms.
No previous experience necessary and everything is included. Simply bring your ideas and creative energy. You’ll be supported every step of the way.
Marble is not included but I have a variety of local Vancouver Island marble and Italian marble are available for participants to purchase. We can discuss what you’d like to do and find the piece that’s right for you. While your sculpture is taking shape it may be stored safely at the studio between sessions.
One week intensive marble carving workshop

A one week intensive is long enough to start stone-carving and attain a fundamental understanding of the process while working on a smaller piece. The two week course certainly is better for attaining more experience and working on a more involved marble sculpture.
No previous experience necessary and everything is included, so whether it is a one week or two week course it promises to be a wonderful experience. Simply bring your ideas and creative energy and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

A two week intensive is long enough to work on a mid- sized sculpture and attain a fundamental understanding of the process. The two week course provides an in- depth exploration of various tools and techniques that are helpful and enjoyable. Time flies when working in stone.
No previous experience necessary and everything is included, so whether it is a one week or two week course it promises to be a wonderful experience. Simply bring your ideas and creative energy and you’ll be supported every step of the way.
